INJECTIONS
BOTOX • XEOMIN • DYSPORT • DAXXIFY COMING SOON
Neurotoxins are a purified protein that blocks receptors at nerve endings, preventing the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, thereby preventing muscle contraction. Neurotoxins are used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles of the face into which it is injected and to prevent future wrinkles. It takes from 4-7 days to see optimum results for Neurotoxins. You may require additional units at a subsequent follow-up visit within two weeks to complete the injection series to obtain the goals we have discussed. 10-20 units per area are only an average and are by no means the standard. Males usually require more than females. People with stronger muscles may require more. Neurotoxins will not fill any wrinkles/lines; they relax and smooth the moving lines, not stationary wrinkles.
The results from a Neurotoxins can last anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months or more. The duration will vary from patient too patient.
DERMAL FILLERS
We offer the following fillers: Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse, Belotero, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft.
Most fillers are a hyaluronic acid that has a light, gel-like consistency which acts like a sponge to absorb water. It is already found in our connective tissue and when injected into the dermis, it fills in lines and restores volume in lips, cheeks, and under the eyes. Each filler has unique characteristics that make it appropriate for volumizing different areas of the face.
Thicker fillers such as Juvederm Voluma are great for cheek augmentation and last up to 2 years while Belotero and Restylane Silk are thinner and finer fillers which can be used for lines around the lips or hollows under the eyes. Radiesse is the only filler that is a calcium based product. Fillers come in a 1 cc syringe and generally speaking unless you are only doing your lips, you may require more than one syringe. Radiesse the only filler that is used with a 1.5 cc syringe, is great for cheeks and smile lines. Radiesse has been shown to promote collagen production as the calcium product is degraded by the body where it was injected. Fillers generally last up to one year but will degrade sooner in places that have more movement such as lips.
KYBELLA®
KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called
“double chin.”It is not known if KYBELLA® is safe and effective for the treatment of fat outside of the submental area or in children under 18 years of age.The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
They are neuromodulators that are safe and effective prescription medicines that contain purified proteins . When injected directly into muscles they provide a smoothing effect on moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles that can last up to 4 months.
The effects from Botox/Dysport will last approximately three to six months. As the muscle movement gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear. That’s when you know the area needs to be treated again.
Dermal Fillers are used in static lines or in areas where volume has been lost through the aging process. They can also be used for lip rejuvenation.

Yes. We use only products with proven safety record. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance which occurs naturally in the cells of the skin, thus there is no risk of allergic reactions. Even people with food sensitivities can receive these fillers safely. The brands of dermal fillers we use are available in more than 90 countries and have been used as an injectable cosmetic treatment for more than two decades with an excellent safety record.
There is a vast array of dermal fillers that can last between 6 months to 5 years. Based on your goals, budget, and medical history, your Provider will help you choose the dermal filler that is best for you.
Genetics and metabolism play a huge part in how long your filler may last. External factors that prevent results from lasting longer include UV radiation and air pollution. Skin damage from free radicals can accelerate skin aging and diminish the results for Botox or fillers. Products that you put on the areas of injections can also play a big role. Everyone processes proteins differently.
The primary difference between the two is that Botox reduces the activity of muscles in the face that cause wrinkles. Botox is the better choice for dynamic wrinkles that occur when the face is in motion or making an expression, as it will reduce their motion and visibility. Facial fillers, however, replace volume that is lost through the aging process by plumping and lifting the skin.
There is always a chance of slight bruising for up to two weeks after an injection. Following your post-care instructions and using topical or capsule-form arnica can help with bruising.
Liquid facelift is the combination of fillers and neuromodulators (i.e Botox) used in multiple areas of the face to provide a longer lasting result. It is not a permanent solution and may need to be repeated in months to years depending on which products are used.
Duck lips aren’t caused by the filler itself. Large, puffy, duck-like lips aren’t usually the result of an allergic reaction or another issue with the filler. Instead, they’re caused by overfilling the lips. Many people think that to get pouty, sensuous lips, you need to put lots of filler into them. They overestimate what they want and end up looking unnatural. An inexperienced surgeon may also overfill the lips unintentionally or might not know to inform the patient that too much filler will cause a poor result. It’s always best to go easy on the filler, especially during the first treatment. It’s easier to add more filler than it is to re-do the whole treatment!
While side effects are extremely rare, there is a small chance of having an allergic reaction to the hyaluronic acid fillers. Since this is a natural component of your body, the chances are rare. Bruising and temporary swelling may happen in the days immediately after filler.
Hyaluronic fillers can be removed with an enzyme called hyaluronidase which naturally dissolves it quicker than your body does. Lip fillers are best performed by highly-trained master injectors. It is best to always ask your potential provider questions regarding their experience in performing lip fillers.
Avoid any dietary, supplemental, or medication that prolongs bleeding. This includes NSAIDS (naproxen, ibuprofen), aspirin, fish oil, vitamin e, alcohol, caffeine. This will help to significantly minimize bruising. Bruising is more common to occur with filler and kybella injections than it is with neurotoxin treatments.
If any blood thinning agents are prescribed by a health care provider, you must consult with them prior to stopping any medications. It is important to speak to your health care provider regarding if it is safe to stop these medications as well as to obtain instructions about when to stop and restart the medication. We do not recommend patients that are on life saving medications stop their medications in order to have any cosmetic procedures performed.
You can begin taking Arnica supplements 7 days prior to injections. This will help the healing process. Bromelain supplements can be taken as well to prevent or reduce bruises from forming. Both can be found in your local pharmacy or grocery store. Dermal filler treatments and Kybella treatments are more likely to lead to bruising than neurotoxin treatments.
Patients prone to cold sores should start a prophylaxis dose of an antiviral medication prior to their injection treatment. Your primary care provider will prescribe this medication prior to your treatment. This is particularly important if you are coming in for a lip enhancement.
Consents will be sent prior to your visit to familiarize yourself with risks and benefits of filler injections, neurotoxins, and other injectable treatments.
On the date of your treatment eat a healthy well balanced diet and be hydrated prior to your injection appointment. It is not uncommon for patients to “pass-out” or get “vasovagal” during their injection. Most people are not fond of needles. Having a good blood sugar and being hydrated will make it less likely that you will feel queasy during your treatment.
Please come in with a clean face or have minimal make up and lotions. You want to minimize makeup especially in and around areas where you would like to get injections performed.
Topical numbing cream or numbing injections are used to minimize or eliminate discomfort during filler treatments. Numbing is not used or necessary for neurotoxins or Kybella. These options will be discussed at your treatment appointment
After your treatment is done it is strongly recommended to reserve your next appointment. This allows you to best maintain your results. Your results will last as long as you maintain them. This is 3-4 months for neurotoxins, typically 4-6 months for lip fillers, and typically 9-12 months for fillers in other areas of the face. Longevity for dermal fillers varies significantly from person to person.
If it's your first time getting injections be aware the results tend to go away faster the first time.
With repeat treatments the results last longer and you also begin to build your own collagen around the injection sites.
After your injection appointment it is normal to have some swelling, pinpoint bleeding, and bruising. It is normal to feel numb for another 1-2 hours after your procedure if a numbing agent was used. Please be sure to follow our post procedure instructions in order to minimize swelling, bruising, and decrease downtime.
It is important to notify our office immediately if you feel that you may be experiencing any of the above possible complications after your filler injections. After your appointment you will receive your injectors personal cell phone number if you need to reach her urgently and it is outside of our business hours
AFTERCARE FOR UNDEREYE FILLER
Do not over-evaluate your face the first two weeks.
During the first 24-48 hours after treatment you may notice redness, tenderness, bruising, asymmetry, red marks at injection sites, and swelling in the treated areas. These responses are normal and typically will resolve spontaneously over the next several days to weeks after treatment.
Swelling and bruising can give the appearance of 'unevenness' for days and even weeks after injection. If at 2-4 weeks you feel a touch up treatment is required to correct any unevenness after swelling/bruising has resolved, please schedule a follow up appointment.
If you would like another treatment in the same area, you can rebook your next treatment 1 month after your first to allow complete healing first.
Please be aware that there are two phases of dermal fillers: building phase and maintenance phase. It may take multiple treatments to build up enough filler to achieve your desired look -- this is the building phase. These treatments can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months apart, although there are times where one treatment is sufficient. Once you have achieved your desired look, a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months can be done in dynamic parts of the face (ie the lips) and 12-18 months in areas that do not have much movement (ie tear troughs).
One syringe of filler is the equivalent of 1/5th of a teaspoon in volume. After swelling subsides there may be a need for additional filler injections if you desire increased volume. For an optimal outcome it is important to add volume slowly over time to achieve the desired look. The first time getting injections the results tend to go away faster. With repeat treatments results last longer as you build your own collagen around the injection sites.
Avoid touching the area injected for at least 6 hours after treatment. Keep your skin clean and makeup free during this time. You may use water and a gentle cleanser as well as aquaphor.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks, spicy food, and salty food for 24 hours, as these may exacerbate bruising and swelling.
Avoid medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen for 24-48 hours, as they are blood thinning agents and may exacerbate bruising. If a health care provider prescribed or recommended that you take any blood thinning agents, please check with you prescriber prior to stopping them.
Avoid supplements such as multivitamins, fish oil, vitamin b, and vitamin e for 24-48 hours, as they have a blood thinning effect and may exacerbate bruising.
Avoid vigorous exercise/physical exertion for 24 hours.
Avoid extreme heat and excess sun for 24 hours.
Avoid putting pressure on the injected area for 48-72 hours. Try sleeping on your back as much as possible.
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of cold water after your treatment.
Apply ice or a cold compress frequently to the injected area during the first 24 hours after your treatment. This will help prevent, reduce, and alleviate swelling, bruising, and discomfort.
Tylenol can be used for mild pain relief.
Use arnica cream, gel, or tablets to help alleviate any bruising. Bruises are temporary but can last for up to 10 days. In a few cases the bruises may last a few weeks. Presence of bruising will not affect your treatment or results. Pineapples and/or bromelain supplements may also help prevent or alleviate bruising. Pineapples have natural anti-inflammatory properties that help to minimize swelling after injections.
For one week avoid facials or rough scrubbing of the face. You can wash your face gently.
If you have a history of cold sore, herpes simplex a, or herpes simplex b, some injectable treatments can re-activate the virus. You should have your primary care provider prescribe an oral antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak. There are some instances where a patient can have dormant herpes simplex a or herpes simplex b and getting injections activates their first outbreak. This must be managed by your primary care provider. You may also take L-Lysine supplements from any local pharmacy. If a cold sore develops within a few days of your filler treatment immediately contact your primary care provider or Vanity Lab Med Spa to receive a prescription antiviral medication.
You may gently massage the injected areas using aquaphor or arnica twice a day for 1-2 days. If any lumps occur, gently massage the area 2-3x daily for 3-4 days using aquaphor or arnica. For persistent lumps or bumps please schedule a follow up appointment. If you have no visible lumps, you do not need to massage the area.
DO NOT MASSAGE ANY AREA TREATED WITH NEUROTOXINS.

Avoid rubbing or massaging of the injected area for 4 hours after treatment, including facials. You may gently wash your face with water and a gentle cleanser during this time.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
Keep upright for 4 hours — if you must lay down, only lay flat. Avoid activities such as shoe shopping or anything where you are not upright. Avoid headwear that is tightly fitted across the forehead.
Avoid excessive alcohol or medically unnecessary blood thinning medication 48 hours before and 48 hours after the treatment to prevent bruising.
Normal daily activity can be resumed immediately following treatment. Light exercise such as walking or jogging, can be performed after 4 hours but it is recommended that strenuous activities are avoided for 24 hours, including weight training, cross training, long distance running, any exercise that includes positions where the body is inverted.
Generally, side effects from neurotoxin injections are rare and recovery is swift. We are available should you have any questions or concerns over minor side effects such as bruising and headache.
You may touch your face after your neurotoxin treatment. Your face will not feel overly sore or tender. Treatment will not prevent you from washing or continuing with your normal skin care regimen. However, you are advised to avoid rubbing or massaging your face for up to 4 hours after your last treatment.
Although some people experience longer lasting results, scientific evidence shows that the effect of neurotoxin injections usually last 3-4 months. Your next treatment ideally would be in November 2021.
Neurotoxin treatments do not ‘build up’ or accumulate in your system. Recommended treatments are scheduled at about 6 weeks. Once the effects have worn off it is safe for you to repeat treatments in the same area. It is also perfectly safe to have multiple treatments in different areas at the same time.
Once the neurotoxin wears off, your muscles will function as they did before the treatment.
Ideally, avoid makeup for an hour or so. However, mineral make up can be applied immediately after. Again, it is recommended that you do not apply too much pressure during these activities in order to ensure that the neurotoxin does not disperse from the treated area.
The neurotoxin usually develops over 3-14 days, at which point a follow up appointment is offered to check technical and aesthetic results.
To allow the neurotoxin to settle in and begin working, it is recommended that you do not rub the treatment area for up to 4 hours after the procedure. This includes the gentle rubbing associated with a facial treatment. We advise not having a facial within 24 hours post-procedure.
Do not over-evaluate your face the first two weeks.

CLIENT LOVE
"Started going to Steph for lip fillers in the beginning of 2021. When I tell you I had no top lip, this amazing and talented woman made me have juicy natural lips now. Obsessed! Throughout this year I’ve gotten them done 2 1/2 times and also have gotten Botox with Steph too. Just recently got a peel facial from Chelsea, and that was absolutely amazing too. Both women are very professional, sweet, & Great at what they do. I’ll always recommend Vanity Lab med spa. I don’t even mind the 45 minute ride either! So worth it! You won’t be disappointed"
